Thanksgiving Partaaaaay!

Thanksgiving was a new experience for John and me this year. This year we were the hosts of the party in Galveston. The ENTIRE Mosiman side of the family came to Galveston to see John and me this holiday- that is 14 people in all. We are truly blessed to have a family that is willing to travel 11 + hours on Thanksgiving holiday to be in our tiny house. (I think the beach might have been an attraction too.) We had a feast of Thanksgiving food and desserts. Between our house and the seafood restaurants in Galveston, we ate nearly every meal together as a family. We were especially excited that Grandpa and Grandpa Butch could make the trip. Grandpa had just had a back surgery only 5 weeks ago. As you can see, he was the life of the party since he was pain-free for the first time in years. You also see that Grandma treated "the cook" with apron that she made on her new sewing machine. It would not have been the same without them. I had planned for 70 degree weather since that was how it had been all fall, but it did not turn out quite so nice. On Thursday the temperature dropped to the 50's and windy, but that did not stop us from spending time in the water on the beach. Three brave souls attempted to boogie board on the waves while the rest of us sat on the beach and took pictures. Needless to say, the swimming did not last long because of the cold weather. Kudos to Jeremy for the best picture of the vacation- a bird lifting off of the beach. The grandkids (except John) also spend an afternoon at Schlitterbahn in Galveston. It was so fun. The waterpark is convertible so it is indoor in the winter. Although there were fewer rides, we tried everything we could. I am definitely going back sometime in the summer when the whole park is open. Hopefully, I will have some adventurous visitors again so that I have someone to go with since John is a party-pooper about these things. On Friday night, the family went to Moody Garden's Festival of Lights. It is a walking tour of the grounds that goes right along the bay. A person could spend almost an hour walking through all the light displays and eating snacks. Again it was cold, but well worth the expense and time. Finally, we do not want to forget about the shopping trip in the Strand District on Black Friday and the ferry ride in the rain on Saturday. Whew! I can not believe that we crammed all of those activities into a few days of vacation, but it was a great time. John and I have alot to be thankful for especially all of our close family on both sides. Check out additional pictures on Kellie's blog.

Strawberry shortcake, apple pie, pumpkin pie, brisket, ham, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, lettuce salad, fruit salad, shrimp kisses, hamburgers, etc.... what a cook and what a treat. We did have a great time despite the wind and rain!!
