Dogs Rule!

The votes are in and the people chose 2 to 1 for John and I to get a dog for Christmas. Now, the only barrier is actually doing it. We have been looking around in the paper and the animal shelters but so far there has not been anything that we really want. What we had originally wanted was a puggle- a mix between a pug and a beagle. They look like this one below. Isn't he soooo cute? However, the only puggles we have found are very expensive. Other dogs we have looked into were sharpei, yorkshire terriers, and a pocket beagle. The decision is just so hard because they are all so cute. I never thought I would be one of those people who even desired an indoor animal, but I think John and I would both welcome a little more excitement in the house. We need a little addition to the family. We just want a cute, little dog that we can play with. Does any one have any suggestions?
P.S. I am sure you can all guess which dog John wants the most- the sharpei. Of course, he would pick the fat, wrinkly, lazy, grumpy-looking one!

I think puggle. I mean, who wouldn't want that beautiful puppy! Also, Yorkshire Terriers are pretty easy to train. Well, maybe not easy, but at least they don't forget what you teach them. One of my friends has one. But it has long hair. But then again, the pocket beagle is cute. The sharpei would be cool too. You could take it in the car with you, and when he sticks his head out the window, the air will pick up his excess skin and he'll look like he's flying. But I still think puggle. They're just too cute.

Well, It isn;t hard for me to pick of the the puppies. Boo to John's suggestion. I am old and wrinkly and that is not pretty!!!!
Any of the others would do, but long haired dogs shed and make a mess I believe.

After all, I voted for the cat.

All I can say is go SHORT HAIR! The less hair, the better for cleaning. There are several breeds/crosses that don't shed but most of them are expensive. Personally, I am a fan of the pocket beagle :) Enjoy your puppy search!

Short hair dogs shed allot too. Our boxers always shed more than our springer. The way to keep them from shedding is to keep them brushed, no matter how long the hair.
I am loving Kellie and Jeremy's beagle...boxers are still probably my fav breed b/c they aren't indoor barkers and have pretty laid back personalities. All puppies, however, are allot of work, though worth the fun and work involved. I have never heard of a puggle, but sounds darn cute. I would read up on personalities. Some little doggies are REAL loud barkers, and some are nippers b/c they're not as people friendly. Beagles know no strangers...that's for sure! They do bay though! I know this has gottne way too long.....anyways good luck with puppy shopping.

Go puggle! (Annette told me to write that). I personally like the pocket beagle - but if it as hyper as Kellie's you will have an adjustment!!
We'll try to send company your way on
occassion so you won't get too bored.

Hey I think that you guys should either go with a puggle, a pocket beagle or a pug. We have a pug and he is so much fun. He loves to play but yet he is lazy to. Good luck choosing. Your Grandma gave me your website and I look at it every so often. I just had to write on this one because I love dogs. Talk to you soon, Mandi and Chris Ridenour

Pocket beagle...possibly the cutest little dog ever. They are pretty expensive though, if I remember right when we were looking. We have really loved our beagle. He is so friendly and good with kids. And really calms down pretty fast now, you just have to give him about 10 minutes after meeting someone new :). The puggles are pretty cute too. I have heard that yorkshire terriers are pretty yappy dogs, and not as good with people. My vote would be the puggle or the pocket beagle. I don't really know much about Sharpei's but they are pretty cute.
Well good luck! I am really glad you have decided on a dog!!

Gracen says that the puggle is ugly. And the sharpei looks like it's "probably a monkey". The yorkie is kinda cute. and the pocket beagle is "yeah". So i guess that's her opinion on the dogs... haha. (we're at bible study right now.)

I think the yorkie would be cute, but I don't know how much they cost. I'm a fan of big dogs, but that's all I've ever had, and I understand needing a smaller dog for a smaller space. Once you find one, though, I hope you love it! It's nice to have someone to play with and talk to, and they definitely liven up a place! That's one of the things I miss most from home, haivng dogs and cats all around, even if they do shed and make noise! Good luck searching!

I was checking my own site in google and came across this... if you haven't already gotten a dog, I suggest pocket beagles. I raise them and think they are the best of both worlds- small and shed very little and love to be couch potatoes and then equally as happy playing fetch outside. Its a lot of fun and playfulness in a small package. Great looks and long ears without the behavior issues of its larger Beagle cousin. WE are having two April litters but if you are looking, I can suggest several other reputable breeders with gorgeous dogs! Visit our site to see ours... take a look at the 'past pups' page and try not to fall in love! We also sell our pups at 25% less than the next closest competitor. WE think this amazing breed should be affordable to everyone!

Best of luck finding your new best friend!
