The psychologist in me...

I just started my clinical psychiatry class yesterday, and it peaked my interest. I guess that is a good sign that my Bachelors is in something I actually love. This week, I will be going to the elderly inpatient unit to be administering psychiatric scales for depression, personality disorders, and mental status. It is so exciting!
Since I can't test everyone, I thought you might like to try your hand at a personality quiz to see it you have negative affect and are socially inhibited. I will not tell you what John and my scores are, but they are interesting- doctor patient confidentiality.

For each statement answer: False, Less false, Neutral, Less True, True

Add Your Answers
Negative Affectivity:
Add scores for questions 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 13
Social Inhibition:
Add scores for questions 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 14

SCORE THE RESULTS
You qualify as a TYPE D personality if your Negative Affectivity is 10 or
higher and your Social Inhibition is 10 or higher
The social and emotional problems associated with Type D personality can increase
your chances of chronic disease and possibly poor adaptation to Chronic Pain.

P.S. I just realized that anyone who is on my blog and actually taking this survey is probably not socially inhibited. If you are reading this, you are on a social networking site! Silly me. It is fun anyway.

So I don't know if I took this right or not..because I scored higher than a 10 on the social inhibition part, and well I think I am a pretty social person :) haha. Yes, I agree with mom. I want more information!

A person with a Type D personality is reticent, lacks self assurance, worries, stays to himself, doesn't like change, irritable, negative, uncomfortable in social situations, etc. The "D" stands for distressed. This particular scale is administered to chronic pain patients. The idea is that those who score high on this scale are less likely to adapt to chronic pain and may be more prone to chronic disease like cardiovascular disease. Interesting, huh?
