Fireworks

John and I were fortunate enough to be able to watch the fireworks over the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday evening. They were beautiful. However, the pictures we took don't do them justice. For some reason, they turned out really dark. The fireworks were located on the Seawall and were shot off over the ocean. So, we just carried our chairs to the beach and sat there to watch them. In our pictures, the Seawall is to the right and the beach is to the left.

This week was also a good week of work for both John and me. The discovery I posted about last time was confirmed in John's lab, and I started work at the HIV Coordinator for the Maternal Child HIV Program at UTMB. I have a pager and a desk. This is a picture of me "checking" my pager. I have actually only gotten one real page. Still, I think I will really enjoy this job. However, the first day of clinics and paperwork was a little overwhelming.

Finally, tomorrow John and I are having the first year MD/PhD student over to our house. They all decided to come. There are only 5 (including us) that are here this summer. I think they are all a little lonely so this could be a fun evening for everyone. Thanks for the phone calls and prayers.
