First Day of School

Today was my official first day of classes at the UTMB PA Program. I was in orientation all last week. Needless to say, it was an exciting first day of class. I actually got to try to draw blood on another student - on the first day. Notice I say try because I did not get any blood to actually go in the tube. Still, the other student was nice enough to let me keep picking him until the class was over. I have a feeling that is a sign of things to come with this PA program. Everything will come very fast.
It was nice after all this waiting to finally get a schedule and have a plan for the semester. I am taking 18 hours and I am in class essentially 9 am to 5 pm three days a week and 9 am to 3 pm two days a week. I was definitely surprised at how hectic my schedule was going to be, but we will make it work.
Here's to hoping I will have time to make a blog post or two from here on out. Any votes for John to start updating the blog?

Draw blood?? On the first day?? Wow!! Just keep poking them :) You could practice on me! We had to do that in nursing school...practice IV's on each other and stuff. That is so much fun that you got to do all of that already...keep us updated on what you are doing...I am really intesrested! I think John updating the blog is a great idea!! But it might not get updated as much :) Love you John! :D

Yay! First real day back for me today too. Your day sounds way cooler than mine. :) I never get to play with needles in PT school. I'll be interested to pick your brain though when you have chances to come home. Email me about your knee if anything changed. Praying for you. First few months are the hardest to adjust to - you'll be great!

You look so cute. Sorry, I'm not going to volunteer for IV practice. There's a reason I'm an accountant and not a nurse(or PA). I'm sure you'll get the hang of it quickly. Have a great year. Love, Vicki

haha, erika, i'd let you practice on me, but every place i go to get lab drawn, a person tells me that i'm an extremely hard stick and that i have little veins. i guess, if you're up for a challenge, you can try to draw my blood.
i think that it would be nice if john would update the blog. but then again, i like being on good terms with john, so i think i'll leave the ultimate decision up to him.
i'm glad you had a good first day though. the schedule does sound tough. i hope you enjoy what you get to do there. love you both!

Congrats on the first week, Erika!! Glad you will no longer feel left out of the medical conversations!!
I vote for John updating the blog. Sounds like he will need a hobby to occupy his time with you and your busy schedule.
